REFLECTION
Experience
When I saw the module on Typography on my study plan I had no idea what to expect. So for the first class I went to, I was greeted with assignments, rules and the risk of losing marks on the first day, which was very different from my foundation. Where my tutor would just give an overview of the entire course. Although my tutor for this course was more strict compared to the tutors in my friends' section, I am glad for his straightforward attitude as it helped me in this course.
Observation
My tutor gave us feedback by projecting our work on a projector, that is how I managed to look at my other coursemate's works. Despite us being given the same task, our work deferred from one another, looking at the work I have produced, I definitely took some of my coursemate's work as inspiration. Following that, during the process of the tasks, we were greeted with an abundance of rules to follow, at first, I thought it was pointless to have so many rules, especially rules that restrict creativity needing me and many more to "tone down" our works, however, I realised that this made us use more creativity to get pass those barriers while still having designs that our tutors approved of.
Findings
When I first came into this module, I did not know what Typography had for me to learn. I just thought it was a bunch of typing. Well, it was, but it was so much more than that. This module made me realise that typography takes a lot of thought and effort to create. The effort to make a paragraph enjoyable to read is more difficult than I first. I now appreciate bodies of text, minimalistic typography posters and fonts more than before I started the module.
