INSTRUCTION
WEEK 1:
Flip topic: Make a short presentation about what an infographic
is.
We were first placed in groups chosen by the lecturer, then the chosen
group leader assigned our tasks to make a short presentation about what
an infographic is. I was assigned the type/examples.
The finished presentation slides:
Flip Topic: Different types of infographics and online tools (Individual Task)
We were told to choose a bad infographic and redesign it. To start with, I chose an infographic that I feel looks bad in my opinion.
In my opinion, the colours in this infographic are too bright and it clashes with each other, which makes it difficult to read. I redesigned it with that in mind.
I made the colours more muted and harmonious. I also added more graphics to make it more cohesive.
Software Review: Canva
Canva is a very beginner-friendly design software that is free. I personally like using canva especially for group work, as multiple people can use it at once. It is also very easy to navigate, and there are many different settings you can use to edit the elements in Canva.
One thing I do not like about Canva is how many paid elements there are. Every time I search for an element, the first thing I see is a paid element, where you have to pay to use. While it is a free software, there is a "pro" version to unlock a lot of the elements. Which I think is overpriced.
EXERCISE 1:
Quantify and Visualize Data:
Information must be presented as is. You are required to arrange the
objects with relevant indicators written out with pens to help you
visualize the quantity and data.
Take a picture of the final assembly and upload into your Google Drive
folder.
At first, I chose mini building bricks for exercise 1, after placing the
bricks and information down, I thought it was too minimal and lacked
design, and it was too small to work with.
I later chose pom-poms as it was easier to work with. After designing, I
sent to my tutor for consultation.
My tutor told me that while it looks good, the information was all over
the place, and may seem confusing for viewers. After redesigning the
placement, I ended up with a final design.
Exercise 1:
WEEK 2:
Flip topic: Make a short presentation about a good and a
bad infographic.
The chosen group leader assigned our tasks to make a good and a bad
infographic. I was assigned the bad infographic.
The finished presentation slides:
Flip topic: Make a short presentation about the
L.A.T.C.H organisation method in an infographic.
Then the chosen group leader assigned our tasks to make a short
presentation about the L.A.T.C.H organisation method in an
infographic. I was assigned the definition.
The finished presentation slides:
WEEK 3:
Public Holiday
EXERCISE 2:
L.A.T.C.H
[Location / Alphabet / Time / Category / Hierarchy]
Organize a group of information into a visual poster that
combines and utilizes the LATCH principles. (min. 4)
Requirements:
Size resolution: 1240 × 1750 pixels or 2048 × 2048 pixels.
Theme: Beast-Yeast Cookies in CookieRun: Kingdom
CookieRun: Kingdom is a game about sentient cookies exploring the
continents named Crispia and Beast-Yeast, I chose to
do only one of the continents, as the other had too many
components.
First, I drew over the map that was in the game, and used the
images from
here to complete the infographic in Canva.
L.A.T.C.H :
Location: Beast-Yeast
Alphabet: -
Time: The Awakening (evolution) of the Ancient Cookies
Category: Faerie Cookie, Beast Cookie, Ancient
Cookie, Neutral Cookie
Hierarchy: Leader, Follower

WEEK 7:
Consultation for Project 1 and Final Project.
REFLECTION:
This module was quite fun and challenging at the same time. At first, I found making the presentation quite tedious, but now I understand the reasoning behind so many presentations. I definitely found myself understanding the topic better. However, it also helps that my groupmates were active and took the initiative to start.
Exercise 1 was quite challenging at first due to the fact that I could not decide on what materials to use for the data. However, after finding the perfect item, which is pom-poms, it became a whole lot easier.
Exercise 2 I find very fun, as I used a topic that I like (CookieRun: Kingdom), which is a game I play and enjoy. I will say I did not fully understand L.A.T.C.H at the time, so it was a bit confusing, but after my friend broke it down for me, I started enjoying the Exercise.
