INSTRUCTION
PROCESS WORK
Week 1:
I formed a group with:
1. Lim Yeng San
2. Loke Yoong Sin
3. Meerabelle Charles
4. Mariyam Maaiya Ibrahim
Week 2:
We started making the interview questions in Figjam for the
empathise phase.
Week 3:
We finalised the interview questions and started interviewing. We
then finished interviewing our participants.
Week 4:
For the define phase, transcribed the interviews and started
analysis to find the key findings.
Key Findings:
Cost and convenience:
University students have busy lifestyles and having cheap and
convenient food is sought after due to it fitting in the budgets
and lifestyles of students.
Eating healthy is a chore:
In the eyes of students, eating healthy is a chore due to the
cost of healthier foods being higher, and not lasting long in
storage. Healthy eating also requires time, which university
students do not have.
Stress-eating:
University students have assignments, exams, and busy schedules,
which often lead to irregular eating habits. For example,
skipping meals or stress-eating, using food as a source of
comfort.
Change of environment:
University students develop less structured eating habits after
leaving high school due to the new profound freedom they have
away from family for extended periods of time or just for the
day, making cheap and convenient food a top pick.
Week 5:
Finalised the key findings and the proposal for the
prototype.
Week 6:
We move on to the ideate phase, and we did a crazy 8
exercise.
Week 7:
Based on the crazy 8 we boiled it down to 3 ideas.
Gamification:
A physical game with food as the main visual. The game's
interactivity serves to engage university students while
spreading awareness of ultra-processed food (UPF) and its
effects.
- A point system card game with informative gameplay
- A board game containing trivia with informative gameplay
Meal-blogging app:
An app that tracks the user’s food intake and recommends
healthy food options
- Users will take photos of their meals and upload them into the app for meal tracking (The posts can be set to public or private)
- Users would be able to connect with their friends by sharing meal logs and messaging them
- The app will also platform restaurants and shops that provide healthy food options supported by user reviews
Social Media:
A social media account on Instagram or TikTok dedicated to
spreading awareness about ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption
through informative posts and videos
- Infographics on balanced diets with illustrated graphics
- Recorded videos demonstrating healthy food options at Taylor's University
Week 8:
After proposing all 3 ideas to the clients, we decided to move on
with idea 1,
Gamification.
We decided to split into 2 teams for the prototype.
Character team: To make the board game characters
-Aw Wen Chia
-Lim Yeng San
-Loke Yoong Sin
Board team: To make the board and card borders
-Mariyam Maaiya Ibrahim
-Meerabella Charles
Week 9:
We started on the prototype sketch:
Week 10:
This week was used for setting the usability goals.
Fig 7, Usability Goals
We then created a scenario regarding our prototype.
We then started on making the prototype by making the board,
characters, poster, and cards.
During week 11 we had a pilot test at the Health Promotion
Event.
Week 12:
With the information we gained from the previous test, we went
with our actual test with 5 participants.
Week 13:
After the user testing, we gathered the data and worked on the
final presentation slide.
Week 14:
Then we presented the final presentation to the client.
FEEDBACK
Interview:
Have the participants talk, the host should not speak unless asking the questions.
Defining:
Group and subgroup the findings from the interview.
Prototype:
Make a pre and post-survey for the participants to fill out.
REFLECTION
This assignment was hard but rewarding, and I have a cute prototype at the end of this. My group members were good to work with, although there were some hiccups on the road. It ended up pretty well, and I am still shocked at what we managed to achieve in such a short amount of time.
