LECTURE

INTRODUCTION TO AFTER EFFECTS
Makes motion graphics animation by manipulating vector and rasterized art to create and tell a story.

TUTORIAL

PRACTICAL

For the After Effects exercise, I started by downloading the required picture.

Fig 3, Required Picture

Then, following his instructions during the tutorial, I started editing the image to make it a video.

Fig 4, Progress

After that I finished the video, I do think I edited a little too much, but I thought it was fun.

For this task, we had to make a poster with a quote on it. After much thought, I decided to go for the quote "All or Nothing". It points to the fact that life is a gamble, and you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Then I started looking for inspiration.

After gaining some inspiration, I started sketching.

I showed the sketches to my tutor and got some feedback. Then, with a clearer head, I sketched out my poster format.

I later changed the "R" from glass to a Marquee Light to make it more cohesive and left out the gold/silver shine on the "ALL" since it looked out of place.

With all of that in mind, I started making my poster.

I first started by taking pictures of my friend's and my hands, and a background.

I then removed the background from the hands and changed the colour of a white felt piece to green.

I started with the table that comes with a roulette wheel.

I then started making the roulette wheel itself.

Then, I made the chips, adding the lettering, and the hand placement.

I then went to Photoshop to make the final edits.

After some final touch-ups, I finished the poster.

REFLECTION
This task was honestly the hardest one in DPI and IVN, however, it was quite fun as the design I made was very close to the design I had in mind. This task also taught me a lot. Although I did not use 3D text as my laptop would crash as soon as I started using it. I was taught how to use it. And I have fun using the tools in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I also started using After Effects, to which I am still learning.
