FINAL PROJECT

For this project, we had to be grouped in pairs and use one of our infographics in Project 1 to turn into a 1-minute animation video. I partnered up with Loke Yoong Xin, and we chose my infographic to turn into an animation in After Effects.

Before we even started on the Final Project, we discussed our strong suits, mine was in storyboarding and animatic, while hers were in editing. Because of that, we agreed that I would do the majority of the non-editing tasks, like storyboard, time-stamps, and graphics, while she would do the majority of the editing.

At the end, Loke Yoong Xin did all the editing in After Effects because we remembered the large amounts of problems faced in Project 2: Exercise 4 as a result of having multiple people editing the same thing.

This was the infographic I made for Project 1, based on the graphics in the infographic we started on the storyboard, which I drew in IbisPaint X. Using the storyboard as a based I then made the time stamp in Google Doc.

Time-Stamp:

After the storyboard and time stamps were completed, I started on the animatic using the song Loke Yoong Xin found.

With that, our tutor gave some feedback, and we went to the editing stage.
Because the animation was based on my infographic, I also made the graphics for the animation in Illustrator. I sectioned each graphic into its own layer and named them accordingly. Making the graphics was not that difficult, as I could reuse some of them from Project 1.

With the graphics done, I sent the AI file to Loke Yoong Xin for the editing.

FEEDBACK

Our tutor approved of our storyboard, saying it made sense, since we did not provide music, he told us to choose a song that would suit the animation.

Our tutor said that the animatic was clean and smooth, he could not give us further feedback as we have not started on the editing.

REFLECTION

This project was quite challenging due to the tight time constraints, although I believe I was assigned the easier portion of the work. Despite that, it still required effort to complete everything within the given timeframe. I do find it repetitive at times, due to me having to redraw my graphics 3 times. First, the project 1 sketch, then the storyboard, and finally the animatic.

Although I could have avoided redrawing the graphics for the animatics by reusing the graphics in the storyboard. However, it would not have been as clean as I would like it. The timing aspect was also quite tedious as I had to do it 3 separate times too, however, as I said above, my part in this project was definitely easier than my pair's.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Loke Yoong Xin, who contributed significantly and took on much of the heavier workload, helping ensure the project was completed successfully.
