PROJECT

Task 1:

I was tasked with making 3 collages, I first started by looking at inspiration. I wanted to go for pink as it is my favourite colour, however, I only had a few options for pink elements as I reused the same magazine from my fashion course back in pre-university. So I looked at collages that incorporate other colors.

I then made my 3 collages.

After showing my tutor the 3 collages and consulting him, I went with the layout of the first collage and added the background of the second one with a few minor changes.

REFLECTION

I had fun with this project as I like cutting paper and arranging it around and liked the break away from the laptop screen.

Task 1.2:
For task 2, I was tasked with making 3 digital collages with the pictures our tutor supplied us with.

Here are my collages:

After showing it to my tutor, he chose the first one as he preferred the composition of it. I then used the first composition for further editing. I decided to further the contrast of the collage and added some "boxes" to block out some colours.

Reflection: I learned a lot about Photoshop while doing this task and had fun playing with the colours and contrast of the collage. Using the Magic Wand to select the area to remove the background for the fish, plant and typewriter. Using the Image Adjustments to adjust the Hue, Saturation, Colours and Brightness.

Task 1.3:
Hearst Mansion Exercise:
Our tutor tasked us with an exercise following the video he provided us in Google Classroom.

Fig 10, Hearst Mansion                                                                                                                     Fig 11, Shazam Poster

Using the 2 pictures above we have to make it appear that Shazam is standing in the Hearst Mansion.

Fig 12, Processes

I first used the Quick Selection Tool to pick out Shazam from the background, placed him in the Hearst Mansion, then change the hue, saturation, brightness and added the shadow. I had him in 2 different placements.

Then it was time to used the things I learned and put myself in the Hearst Mansion.

First I took a picture of myself.

A little silly but I liked it. Then, I started by removing a background with the selection tool.

I then followed the same steps I did for Shazam, for example, colour correction and adding shadows.
With all of that out of the way, I finish editing.

REFLECTION
I had a lot of fun with this task, and learned how to use Photoshop further. It was fun editing me in the photo and I feel more comfortable working with Photoshop. I learned how to use the Quick Selection Tool to remove the background, Colour Match setting to match the pasted image to the background and the Brush Tool to add the shadows in.

Task 1.4:

Digital Imaging Exercise 1:
Turn B&W into Colour

I started by downloading the required image from a Google drive.

I followed a video tutorial using the quick selection tool and started editing.

Digital Imaging Exercise 2:
Turn B&W into Colour with references

I started by downloading 3 images for this exercise

By following the slides and video tutorial, I used the eyedropper tool and quick selection tool to make the first image coloured.

Digital Imaging Exercise 3:
Turn B&W into Colour with reference

I first downloaded an image of my choosing.

I then search for an image to use as a reference.

With that I started the proses of colouring the image.

Reflection:
This task taught me about using the Masking Layer to separate different areas in an image, the Quick Selection Tool too select areas in an image and different blending modes to help blend colours to an image. I had fun as I liked colouring the pictures. It has also taught me more about Adobe Photoshop.
